The name was coined in the 1600’s by the English, who thought the flavor of this spice to be a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, & cloves. A necessity in Caribbean cuisine (jerk seasoning), pickling, curry powders, cookies, and cakes.  Grown in Mexico and Central America. The whole berries can be used for pickling, but should be ground for the other recipes.
